Video: Shubman Gill Hits A Monster Six On The Chinnaswamy Stadium Roof

India opener Shubman Gill has been having a middling World Cup 2023 tournament, below the standards that he’d set earlier in the year. Today, on Sunday, at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Gill got a perfect opportunity to get a big score against the Netherlands just ahead of the semi-final.

Both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started off like a bullet train on this flat pitch in Bangalore. For once, Gill was even more in a destructive mood than Rohit.

After 8 overs, India reached the score of 73/0, out of which Shubman Gill had cracked 34 runs in 18 balls, scoring at a strike rate of 188, while Rohit Sharma scored 37 runs in 31 balls, striking at 123. There was no respite for the Dutch bowlers from either end.

One of the most jaw-dropping shots of the day came very early from the bat of Shubman Gill, whose straight six to off-spinner Aryan Dutt was measured at 95 metres and hit the roof of the Chinnaswamy Stadium!

On the last ball of the third over, Gill danced down the pitch to a length ball from Aryan Dutt. He connected neatly in his shot and the ball sailed over deep mid-wicket. Forget a fielder, no one in the crowd could have caught that as the ball rose high in the air and hit the roof of the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
