Video: Suryakumar Yadav Plays Famous Supla Shot For A Six To Coetzee

Another T20I, another blistering knock by Suryakumar Yadav. The format that remains so mercurial and uncertain for most other batters in the world, is a daily bread and butter for Suryakumar Yadav, who is now the fastest batsman to 2000 T20I runs in terms of balls faced.

Leading the side in an interim capacity, Suryakumar Yadav scored 56 runs in 36 balls in the 2nd T20I against South Africa on Tuesday in Gqeberha. The first T20I between India and South Africa in Durban was washed out on Sunday. On Tuesday, both teams locked horns in the 2nd T20I at St George’s Park in Gqeberha.

Suryakumar cracked 5 delicious fours and 3 towering sixes in his innings. One of the three sixes was off his famous ‘Supla’ shot which he played to fast bowler Gerald Coetzee.

On the 5th ball of the 4th over of India’s innings, Gerald Coetzee went short to Suryakumar, but strayed just a bit in his length on the legside. That tad mistake from Coetzee was enough for SKY to latch onto it and swivel-pull it way over the fine leg fielder for a maximum.

Meanwhile, Rinku Singh’s blistering finish of 68 runs in 39 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes has helped India reach 180. Rain arrived and stopped play at 19.3 overs with India’s score being 180/7. When Suryakumar got out at the score of 125/4, India’s innings was in threat of finishing around 160. But Rinku Singh took on the charge, took his balls and bowlers smartly to once again deliver under pressure.

Earlier, Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bowl first.
