The first ever super over, in international cricket, was played between West Indies and New Zealand. West Indies, chasing a target of 155 runs, needed 2 runs to win off the last ball but they could manage just one run and the match was decided by a super over.
Chris Gayle came out to bat for West Indies and smashed 25 runs off Daniel Vettori’s over. Gayle, in his trademark style, smashed massive sixes and made the great Dan Vettori look ordinary.
In reply, Jacob Oram came out to bat for New Zealand with Ross Taylor and smashed a big six off the first ball of the over, which was bowled by Suleman Benn. But, he got out on the next ball while trying to smash another six. On the third ball of the over, Ross Taylor was also dismissed by Benn. Watch it here:
