Luke Fletcher was playing for the Nottinghamshire Outlaws against the Birmingham Bears when he was struck in the face. Bears’ batsman Sam Hain smashed a full delivery by Fletcher straight down the ground and the ball hit the bowler right in the middle of his head.

It was a full-blooded straight drive was hit by a lot of power by Sam. The moment ball hit Fletcher’s head, the 28-year old seamer fell on the ground and he was in a lot of pain. Batsman Sam Hain got scared the moment he saw Fletcher holding his head in pain, and he

The entire Nottinghamshire Outlaws team got together and they all were extremely concerned about the blow. Soon the Phsyio was in the middle and he took charge of the situation.

Soon, Fletcher was hospitalised and kept in overnight as a precautionary measure but he is set to be released on Sunday, with the Nottinghamshire physio James Pipe, who stayed with Fletcher throughout, saying he was “in good spirits”. This is what James Pipe said:

“It looks like he is going to be fine, but we will obviously continue to monitor him very closely, as we did overnight.

“The game has strong emergency care plans in place and I would just like to thank all the staff at Edgbaston as we worked together to implement them.

“They were amazing in terms of the support they gave and could not have done more. The staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital have also been fantastic too.”
