Indian Cricket Team completed a convincing series win after winning the third and final Test and whitewashing New Zealand. India started the series as firm favourites and they lived upto the expectations and dominated the Blackcaps throughout the series. As expected, Indian spinners, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, troubled the Kiwi batsmen every time they bowled and picked a major chunk of Blackcaps’ wickets. Ashwin completed his 21st five-wicket haul in Test cricket and the most amazing part is that he has only played 39 Tests. In the second innings of the third Test, Ravichandran Ashwin picked his career best figures of 7 for 59 runs, as Kiwis succumbed to his bowling for just 159 runs. Ashwin was at the top of his game and unsettled the Kiwi batsmen every time he came on to bowl.  Ashwin was rightly adjudged man of the series for his brilliant bowling that left Kiwi batsmen clueless in the middle.

There were many good individual performances for other Indian cricketers as well. Ravindra Jadeja bowled in the first Test. Cheteshwar Pujara was solid at no. 3 and scored a hundred, his 8th in Test cricket, after a gap of one year. Ajinkya Rahane also made some valuable contribution and achieved his career best individual score (188) in Test cricket. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who played only one match, took his first ever five-wicket haul on India soil. Gautam Gambhir, who was called in as a replacement for KL Rahul after the first Test, scored a fighting fifty even after getting injured in the second innings of the third Test.

By the virtue of this series win, Indian Cricket Team has become the no. 1 Test team in the world. The ICC mace, which was in Pakistan before this, was presented to Virat Kohli by former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar. Team India and fans will cherish this series for a very long time as they once again became the no. 1 in Test cricket after a long time.
