Former Inda head coach Ravi Shastri hilariously trolled a ball boy who was sleepy and was yawning during day 1 of the ongoing Test between India and England in Ranchi.

The fourth Test of the series got underway on Friday at the JSCA international stadium in Ranchi.

England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and elected to bat first on what he had, in his pre-match press conference, called an “interesting” surface, something he had never seen like, given the dark color of the pitch and one sided heavy cracks on it.

While the first session was an entertaining one as India took 5 wickets in it, the next two sessions were a bit dull and boring as the pitch remained slow and there wasn’t any great deal of turn either. This allowed Joe Root to get into his best rhythm of the series while he was helped by Ben Foakes and Ollie Robinson. Root, who had extracted a lot of criticism in the previous Test for getting out via a reverse-scoop, notched up a brilliant century, playing traditional cricket.

Amid all this dullness of the second and third sessions, and with very little crowd present in the stadium, even the fans went on a snoozefest. One young fan who was the ball boy on Friday lay beside the boundary line and looked sleepy. Unaware that the camera was on him, he made a big yawn, and commentator Ravi Shastri delivered a hilarious line.

Ravi Shastri shouted, “WAKE UP WAKE UP” and eked out big laughter from his co-commentators.

The day ended with England being 302/7. It feels like England would be the happier side, having reached this position after losing five wickets in the first session, while India would be dissatisfied at having not been able to take more than only two wickets in the last two sessions.
