Video: Virat Kohli And Ishant Sharma’s Funny Exchange

Childhood friends Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma had a funny, light-hearted moment during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arjun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

The two Delhi boys, Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma go back a long way and were friends as teenagers growing up, having played teen cricket and later starred together for Team India across formats.

Their friendship bond was visible when they embraced a hilarious bump and shared a few words in a funny banter.

Ishant bowled to Virat Kohli in the 13th over of RCB’s innings with the batter already well set. Kohli tapped a full ball from Ishant on the legside and set off for a quick single and Ishant ran after the ball. There was only a single possible, but Virat Kohli teased Ishant by acting to call Lomror for a double run, despite the ball being in Ishant’s hands.

Ishant and Kohli walked up to each other and shared a bump and laughter before parting to their ways. Both were seen donning smiling faces.

While he was in the opposition today, Virat Kohli is the local boy and duly got the loudest cheer of the match that continued on the decibels with every boundary he hit and reached a crescendo when he reached another half-century – his 6th of the season in 10 innings.

Virat Kohli scored 55 runs in 46 balls in RCB’s total of 181. But the late impetus was provided by left-hander Mahipal Lomror, who scored 54 off 29 balls.

The 34-year-old RCB star also became the first-ever batsman to cross 7000 IPL runs.

“It (7000 runs in IPL) is just another milestone on the journey. It’s a nice number, I just saw it on the screen. If it helps the team, I am happy to contribute. It’s a special moment for me, my family is here, my coach is here, Anushka is here. My whole journey started here. I was watched by the selectors at this ground and selected. I feel nothing but gratitude, god has blessed me with such amazing things, I can only bow down,” he said.

“I have always said it from day one, having Anushka on tours with me, it’s the most important thing for me. Family time is more important to me than anything else. I just come out and enjoy my cricket, cricket is just a part of my life. It feels great when she (Anushka) comes to watch me in the stadium. My brother and sister is here and their family is here as well. It was unbelievable.”
