
In a great gesture, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli has come forward to help former Indian women’s team cricketer K.S. Sravanthi Naidu for the treatment of her ailing mother. K.S Sravanti’s mother SK Suman has been infected by the dangerous COVID-19 infection and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Saravanthi had made an appeal to the BCCI, Hyderabad Cricket Association, and other associations as well to help her in this matter.
BCCI South Zone convenor and the sister of former BCCI President Shivlal Yadav, N. Vidya Yadav, had tweeted to seek help for Sravanthi. She also tagged Virat Kohli in her tweet, responding to the tweet, Virat Kohli took no time to help the former Indian cricketer by making a contribution.
As per the tweet, Sravanthi has already spent Rs 16 lakh for the treatment of her parents, who tested positive for COVID-19. The Indian skipper has donated a sum of INR 6.77 lakh for the treatment of K.S Sravanthi’s mother.
Talking to Sportstar, in an interview, Sravanthi thanked Virat Kohli and also thanked Team India’s fielding coach R Sridhar, who she said took up the issue with the Indian skipper. She said:
“Honestly, I was amazed at his spontaneous gesture. Such a great gesture from such a great cricketer. I am also grateful to the Indian fielding coach R. Sridhar who also took up the issue with Kohli,”
Meanwhile, earlier Virat Kohli and his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma donated a sum of INR 2 crore and started a fund-raised to procure oxygen and other medical equipment for those suffering in the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in India. The fund-raiser managed to collect over INR 11 crore. The funds were donated to Act Grants for COVID-19 relief.
