Virat Kohli was an emotional man when he dedicated his much-awaited 71st century to the two most closes people in his life. It was a moment that the fans around the world were waiting for so long and it was worth all the wait.
Virat Kohli, who was going through a rough phase in his career, finally broke his century drought as he smashed his maiden international century in almost three years. Virat had scored his last international ton against Bangladesh in the pink ball Test match at Eden Gardens in November 2019.
Before his 71st came, Kohli had scored two fifties in the Asia Cup as well (59* against Hong Kong and 60 against Pakistan). Continuing on his impressive run of form since his return to the Indian cricket team in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, Virat Kohli reached the three-figure mark in 53 balls.

After his magnificent knock, Virat Kohli talked about his performance and expressed all the emotions that he was feeling in that moment. He said: “It [the century] was worth a 1000 words, I am blessed and grateful right now – the last 2 and half years have taught me a lot – this November I will turn 34 so the celebrations are of the past. This celebrations there were lot of thing put into perspective Actually. I was shocked[with the 100] because this is format I least expcted to get a 100,”
He added: “It is all God’s blessing, I have been working hard and the moment is special for me and team as well.”
Virat Kohli played a stunning knock of 122 runs off 61 balls which was laced by six sixes and 12 boundaries. He started his knock in a blockbuster way and continued to score the runs even in the middle overs when wickets fell in quick succession. In the end, he smashed a stunning six to reach the triple-figure mark and broke off into a burst of contagious laughter. Speaking about the beautiful moment and his celebration, Virat said:
“The celebration was an accumulation of lot of things, when I can back team, the team was open and helpful and gave me scope to help my game and they kept my perspective as well,”
He ended his speech by dedicating his much-awaited 71st century to his wife Anushka Sharma who ‘stood by me all along.’ He also dedicated the century to his daughter Vamika. He said:
“You see me standing here because one person has put things in perspective for me. That’s Anushka. This hundred is for her and for our little daughter Vamika as well.
