Virat Kohli Fans Should Know That He Is About To Break A Massive ODI Record

India’s flamboyant batter, Virat Kohli dropped a bombshell on his fans after he resigned as India’s Test captain last week bringing an end to a golden era of the Indian cricket team. Virat and his team achieved unprecedented success during his captaincy period. Though, he has now retired from the captaincy position, he will continue to play for the Indian side as a full-time batter now.

Virat’s next project with team India in the upcoming 3-match ODI series against the Proteas and he is all set to shatter some big records.

All eyes will be on Virat as he can set a big record in this match at Parl. Kohli (5057 runs) is only nine runs away to become the highest run-getter of India in the way ODIs. Currently, the record is held by India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar (5065 runs).

While Sachin scored 5065 runs in 147 matches he played on foreign soil in ODI Internationals at an average of 37.24, including 12 centuries and 24 fifties. On the other hand, Virat Kohli is currently at the second position on this elite Indian list. So far, he has scored 5057 runs in 107 matches at an excellent average of 58.12, including 20 centuries and 23 fifties. MS Dhoni, the legendary captain is third on this list with 4520 runs in 145 ODIs.

Apart from this, Virat Kohli (1287) needs only 27 runs to go past Rahul Dravid (1309) and Sourav Ganguly (1313) and become the fifth-highest run-scorer in India vs South Africa ODIs.

Meanwhile, after losing the 3-match Test series by a 2-1 margin, the Indian cricket team is all set to lock horns with South Africa in the 3-match ODI series, which will kickstart from tomorrow, i.e, January 19, 2022, at Boland Park in Paarl.

India’s stylish opener KL Rahul will be seen leading the Indian cricket team in the ODI format for the first time as India’s newly-appointed white-ball captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the series because of a hamstring injury.
