Former India captain and talisman batsman Virat Kohli has requested the fans and media to not share and publish images of his Vamika, his and Anuskha Sharma‘s daughter, demanding their privacy once again.
Vamika, who recently turned 1 year old, and her mother, Anushka Sharma, were seen cheering Virat Kohli’s half-century during the third ODI in Cape Town on Sunday.
As soon as Virat Kohli reached his fifty, the broadcasters panned the camera to Anushka and Vamika in the stands, the former had a beaming smile and clapping while the latter, too, joined in with a few small, cute claps.
Virat Kohli, who had scored a fifty in the first ODI as well but managed a duck in the second ODI, was seen celebrating this half-century with his family – he did the baby gesture while looking at this little one and his wife.
The broadcaster’s few second video was captured by the fans and the video and pictures of Vamika have gone viral since then, because fans have hardly have a look at Vamika since her birth as the couple had often demanded privacy of their child,
Virat and Anushka have never revealed Vamika’s face in any of their social media pictures. They have requested the paparazzi to not click her photos, and their wish had been duly respected. However, the broadcasters showed Vamika and Anushka.
On Monday, Virat Kohli took to his Instagram story to ask the fans and the media to not spread Vamika’s images and videos taken on Sunday.
On his Instagram story, Virat Kohli wrote, “Hi guys! We realise that our daughters images were captured at the stadium yesterday and widely shared thereafter. We want to inform everyone that we were caught off guard and didn’t know that the camera was on us. Our stance and request on the matter stays the same. We would really appreciate if Vamika’s images are not clicked/published for reasons we have explained earlier. Thank you!”
So, if you are wondering what the reason is that Virat and Anushka have been asking for Vamika’s privacy, this is a statement from December that the couple had released.
“We seek privacy for our child and would like to do our best to give her a chance to live her life freely away from media and social media. As she is older, we cannot restrict her movement and hence your support is needed so kindly practice (refrain) in the matter. A special thank you to fan clubs and people of the internet for going out of your way to not post images. It was kind and highly mature of you,” the power couple had said in a statement last month.
Meanwhile, India lost the third ODI by a close margin of 4 runs and finished the tour by being whitewashed in the 3-ODI series after they had lost the Test series 2-1.
