The tweet that the world had been waiting for has arrived: on Saturday, Virat Kohli replied to Babar Azam’s tweet in which the Pakistani skipper had lent his support to the former Indian captain who has been going through a lean patch.

Babar Azam rocked the social media and stunned the fans when he gave strength to the Indian batting superstar who has struggled for runs on the ongoing England tour.

Virat Kohli finally replies to Babar Azam

Kohli hasn’t gone past 20 on this tour yet: he managed scores of 11 and 20 in the Edgbaston Test; 1 and 11 in two T20I matches; and then a score of 16 in the second ODI. After Kohli’s dismissal for another cheap score, Babar took to Twitter to express his support to the 33-year-old Indian stalwart.

“This too shall pass. Stay strong. #ViratKohli,” wrote Babar sharing a picture of himself with Kohli from the T20 World Cup last year. His tweet broke out a storm as it went viral in no time and has gained over 270,000 likes.

Now, Virat Kohli, who is preparing for the third ODI on Sunday in Manchester, replied to the Pakistani captain’s message.

Kohli thanked Azam for his support, and in return, he sent the Pakistani skipper his wishes and good luck.

“Thank you. Keep shining and rising. Wish you all the best,” Kohli replied.

Babar Azam, who is currently in Sri Lanka for a Test series, was inevitably asked about his tweet for Kohli. In the pre-match press conference in Galle on Friday, the Pakistani skipper was asked about his tweet on Kohli and his thoughts on the Indian star’s form.

“As a player myself, I know you can go through such a phase (out of form) and I also know what a player goes through in such a phase. In those times, you need support. I just tweeted thinking that it will give just some support. He is one of the best players,” Babar Azam explained.

The Pakistani captain, who himself is one of the best and on his way to greatness, backed Kohli to find his way out of this rut.

“He is playing a lot of cricket and he knows how to come out of these situations. It takes time, if you back players, it will be really good,” he added.
