Ravindra Jadeja got the best fielder medal from fielding coach T Dilip for his superb catch during the India vs Bangladesh match in Pune.
During the World Cup 2023, one of the most anticipated events among the fans, and also among the Team India players, is the announcement of the best fielder. At the naming of the winner of this medal, the teammates go wild and celebrate it in an even bigger and noisier fashion than they celebrate wickets on the field.
34-year-old Virat Kohli, in particular, brings out his inner child to celebrate animatedly the best fielder of the match.
It was Ravindra Jadeja who was declared as the best fielder of the IND vs BAN match in Pune. Fielding coach T Dilip this time found a very unique way of revealing this award winner: Dilip requested the broadcasting and technical team at the MCA Stadium in Pune to use the giant screen in the stadium to announce the best fielder winner. His wish was granted.
After India’s victory, in the dressing room, T Dilip asked everyone to look at the giant screen in the stadium and it revealed Ravindra Jadeja as the best fielder of the day for his marvelous diving catch to dismiss Mushfiqur Rahim.
Rahim cut a back-of-length ball from Bumrah and it would have perhaps raced away for a four. But Jadeja dived to his left and pouched the ball with both his hands. Immediately after getting up from the ground, Jadeja celebrated toward the Indian dressing room, making a medal gesture toward the fielding coach.
KL Rahul had also taken a tremendous one-handed catch, of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, but Jadeja got the award; Rahul was the winner of this medal in the previous match, so he gave the medal to Jadeja. All the players went beserk in the dressing room. Virat Kohli jumped and screamed at the top of his voice.

Jadeja was also India’s best bowler against Bangladesh, returning with brilliant figures of 2/38 in his 10 overs, on what he said was a good batting pitch and no help for the spinners.
India’s next game is against New Zealand, who is the only other unbeaten team in the tournament with 4 wins in 4 games, the same as India.
