Gujarat Titans‘ ace leg-spinner Rashid Khan took a blinder of a catch – running, spriting, diving, falling, celebrating – to dismiss the Lucknow Super Giants opener Kyle Mayers in Ahmedabad.
It was one of the best catches even Virat Kohli has ever seen and the RCB star put an Instagram story to hail the Afghanistan superstar.
The fact that it initially looked like that ball will fall short of Rashid Khan and his being able to complete this catch makes it so spectacular.
On the second ball of the 9th over of LSG’s innings, Mohit Sharma banged it in short and in the stumps’ line to Kyle Mayers. The ball seamed away from the left-hander considerably. The ball also didn’t bounce as much as Mayers expected it to, but he went through with his pull shot and didn’t connect it properly, the ball flying off the upper splice of the bat toward the legside.
Since there wasn’t enough power in the shot, the ball was about to fall short of Rashid Khan who was sprinting in from deep square leg. However, Rashid put in a dive and expanded both his hands toward the ball, and managed to get both of his hands under the ball. Despite falling on the ground, he managed to keep hold of the ball and completed a spectacular take.
“One of the best catches I’ve ever seen. Brilliant,” Virat Kohli wrote in his Insta story.

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans have one foot in the playoffs after they won by 56 runs against LSG in Ahmedabad. Just like last season, the Gujarat Titans became the first team to reach 16 points and with a playoff spot all but confirmed now, they will be eyeing a top 2 finish with 3 more games in hand.
