The Indian skipper Virat Kohli, on Tuesday, hailed Jalandhar-based college Lovely Professional University (LPU) by giving them a shoutout for sending a record-breaking number of athletes to the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2021.
Well, as per the official page of Lovely Professional University, 11 students of the college are participating in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 including the captain of the Men’s Hockey Team, Manpreet Singh, and star Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. Apart from this, around 10% of the total Indian Olympic participants are LPU students, as per the university.
Virat Kohli, who is currently in the UK for the upcoming 5-match Test series against England lauded LPU on their ‘great achievement’ for sending record-breaking athletes to the Tokyo Olympics. Lauding the achievement, Virat took to his Instagram and stated that India needs more colleges like LPU. He wrote:
“What a record 10% of Indian Olympians are from Lovely Professional University. I hope LPU will send students to the Indian cricket also!”
Sharing the post, Virat further stated that India needs 10 more LPU and gave a shoutout to the students who are representing India at the Olympics. He wrote:
“India needs 10 more LPUs. Best of luck to the 11 LPU students who are representing India at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Truly a great achievement!

However, the post didn’t go down well with the fans, who started trolling him left, right, and center for promoting LPU. Some users even felt that by crediting the university for the success of these athletes, Kohli was actually ignoring the years of hard work done by our athletes to realize their dream of becoming an Olympian.
