England’s ace batsman Joe Root was all praise for Virat Kohli ahead of the second match of the ongoing One Day International (ODI) series. Kohli batted brilliantly in the first ODI in Pune and scored a match-winning hundred. Chasing a big total of 350 runs, Kohli anchored India’s run-chase and formed a crucial partnership with Kedar Jadhav, who also scored a hundred in the match.

It was Kohli’s 27th ODI hundred and he now holds the record for scoring the most number of 100s (15) in successful chases. Virat Kohli’s knock was praised by fans and cricketers across the world and it was the most trending topic on social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter. Former England captain Nasser Hussain heaped praises on Kohli and called him the “Cristiano Ronaldo of Indian cricket”.

Joe Root, who is regarded as one of the best batsmen in world cricket across all three formats of the game, said he would love to sit and chat with Kohli.

“He’s one of the best at run chases in the game, in fact he probably is the best at it. His record says he’s got 15 hundreds chasing scores down now,” Joe Root said.

“I’d love to sit and chat to him, but I’ve not had that opportunity yet. Definitely watching him go about his business there is a lot of thought behind it,” he added.
