Virat Kohli Makes A Big Statement On KL Rahul

Indian captain Virat Kohli addressed the media before the second Test and spoke on variety of issues ranging from the preparation to team selection. Kohli is a very straight-forward speaker, who doesn’t mince his words, in front of media or anyone. The biggest takeaway from Kohli’s presser was his firm decision on KL Rahul.

Talking about picking the playing XI, the Indian captain said agreed that there is a problem of plenty, specially for the opening slot. In the last match, both the openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Abhinav Mukund batted well, but, in the next match, Virat Kohli has revealed that KL Rahul, who didn’t play the first Test due to illness, will definitely comeback into the playing XI.

Kohli said that KL Rahul is India’s established opener and one of the openers will have to make way for him. He also added that the Bangalore batter has been a solid opener for India in the past 2 years and he deserves to comeback the moment he reaches his 100% fitness.

“KL Rahul has been our establish opener. One of the openers will have to make way for KL. What he has done in the past two years for us is very solid and he deserves to come back and start fresh in Test cricket,” he said.

Kohli also added that these decisions are taking in the team meeting, but as far as his wish and decision is concerned, KL Rahul is defiantly coming.

“We have a team meeting after the practice and we can clarify more after the meeting but according to me, KL Rahul is definitely coming back at the top order,” he said.

OUR TAKE: KL Rahul is a technically strong batsman who has scored tons of runs at domestic level. Virat Kohli’s absolutely correct that if KL is fit, he deserves to comeback in the playing XI. Rahul is a quality batter who has been very solid at the top of the order for India, specially in Test cricket.
