The platform had begun the process to remove ‘legacy verified ticks’ from Twitter accounts and the only accounts that have verified blue checkmarks on Twitter are those who have paid for Twitter Blue, which costs USD 8/month via the web and USD 11/month through the in-app payment on iOS and Android.

Several Bollywood and South Indian superstars and a host of current and former Team India superstars including captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni lost their verification blue ticks on Twitter.

For the unversed, under the management of Elon Musk, Twitter came up a new feature “Twitter Blue”, where the user requires to pay a monthly subscription fee for the verified ticks.

Because of the same several Bollywood stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, and politicians like CM Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, and cricketers Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, and Rohit Sharma have lost their verification ticks.

Therefore, a majority of Indian celebrities and cricketers have lost their verification ticks on Twitter. Also, this isn’t limited to Indian celebrities and cricketers one of the greatest footballers in the history of the game, Cristiano Ronaldo has also lost his ‘blue tick’ on Twitter.
