Last year, Virat Kohli found himself at the center of a major IPL controversy due to a heated altercation involving Naveen-ul-Haq and Gautam Gambhir. The clash between Kohli and Naveen/Gambhir became the most talked-about controversy of IPL 2023, attracting reactions from all over the world.
Virat Kohli Opens Up On Hugging Gautam Gambhir

It was considered one of the ugliest disputes in IPL history since Kohli’s previous confrontation with Gambhir in 2013. Tensions ran high, and there was a widespread belief that when these two former India teammates crossed paths again this year, it would be an opportunity to resolve the issues.
When Royal Challengers Bangalore faced Kolkata Knight Riders, everyone was surprised by what happened. Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir unexpectedly hugged, making peace and possibly ending their long-standing rivalry. Despite their past conflicts, they’ve finally put it behind them and moved on.
Speaking to fans and the media, Kohli openly discussed the notable hugs he shared with Gambhir and Afghan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq. Taking a dig at the media people, Kohli said:
“People are very disappointed with my behaviour. I hugged Naveen, and then the other day, Gauti bhai [Gautam Gambhir came and hugged me. Your masala is over so you’re booing. We’re not kids anymore,” he said during an event organized by Asian Paints.
The video of the same has gone viral on the internet. Watch it here:

Kohli is focusing on scoring for RCB in the IPL and doing well. He’s the only player with a century in IPL 2024, leading the Orange Cap standings. He scored his 8th IPL century on April 6. Despite his form, RCB has won only one out of five matches. On Thursday, Kohli plays at the Wankhede Stadium against Mumbai Indians, where he has been successful before.
