Virat Kohli, the standout player for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), received the ‘Player of the Match’ award in the dressing room after his team’s defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Chinnnaswamy Stadium on Friday.
After the defeat, Virat Kohli, who scored an unbeaten 83 runs off 59 balls with four boundaries and four sixes, received a gift hamper from his teammate Glenn Maxwell. Despite Kohli’s brilliant innings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) managed to score 182/6 in their 20 overs.

However, explosive batting performances by Sunil Narine and Venkatesh Iyer enabled Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to chase down the target with 19 balls to spare and seven wickets in hand.
After receiving the award, Virat said as quoted in a video by RCB’s X handle, “On a more serious note, we had a tough night, we all know that. We are much better than that so, as long as we accept it, and move forward with the same courage, and the same belief in our skills. That is all we can come up with, so let us stay on that path.”

In IPL 2023, Virat Kohli holds the ‘Orange Cap’ for scoring the most runs. He has amassed 181 runs in three innings at an impressive average of 90.50 and a strike rate exceeding 141. Kohli has secured two half-centuries, with his highest score being an unbeaten 83 runs.
KKR chose to field after winning the toss. Despite losing skipper Faf early, Virat Kohli formed partnerships with Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell, eventually scoring an unbeaten 83 runs off 59 balls. With support from Dinesh Karthik, RCB posted 182/6 in 20 overs.
In response, KKR’s Phil Salt and Sunil Narine provided a strong start with an 86-run partnership. Venkatesh Iyer and captain Shreyas Iyer guided KKR to a comfortable seven-wicket victory with 19 balls remaining.
Sunil Narine was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’. RCB stands sixth with one win and two losses, while KKR holds the second spot with two wins in two matches.
