The Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli shared his first thoughts on the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023 schedule which was announced in a special event in Mumbai on Tuesday, exactly 100 days before the tournament opener at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5.
The Indian cricket team will get their tournament underway with a game against Australia on October 8, which is scheduled to be held in Chennai. The big game between India and Pakistan will be played in Ahmedabad on October 15th.
This is the first time that India is solely hosting the competition, having previously acted as co-hosts with other subcontinent countries in 1987, 1996, and 2011. The tournament will take place in a total of 10 venues across India – Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.
Virat Kohli Named The Venue He Is Most Excited To Play At The World Cup 2023

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, who led the Indian cricket team in the last edition of the World Cup in England, where team India was knocked out after a heartbreaking loss to New Zealand in the semi-final, will once again play a key role in India’s quest to bring an end to the trophy drought.
For the unversed, the last time India won the World Cup was back in 2011 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Ever since then team India is struggling to get their hands on the prestigious trophy of the ICC. India has reached the final four stages in the next two editions – 2015 and 2019 but has failed to get their hands on the trophy. The Indian cricket team under the guidance of captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid will look forward to ending their trophy drought this time.
“Personally, I’m looking forward to playing in Mumbai. It’d be great to experience that atmosphere again,”
Further, Kohli also picked the venue he is most excited to play during the World Cup at home. He said he just can’t wait to play at the Wankhede Stadium. He said:
“I was quite young then. I saw what it meant to the seniors. I can understand what they went through and how special it is to play a home world cup and how excited they are going to be,”
