Virat Kohli Revealed The Reason Behind Ravi Ashwin’s Selection

Virat Kohli Revealed The Reason Behind Ravi Ashwin’s Selection: Indian cricket team has brought back India’s ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the shortest format of the game. As Ashwin hasn’t played in a T20 international match since 2017, Ravi Ashwin’s selection in the Indian squad was one of the most surprising decisions taken by the selection committee.

Ravi Ashwin’s journey has been quite dramatic this year — from not getting a chance to feature in a single Test match against England to making it to India’s T20 World Cup 2021 squad.

Virat Kohli Revealed The Reason Behind Ravi Ashwin’s Selection

Ahead of the upcoming high-voltage tournament — T20 World Cup 2021, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli finally broke his silence on the selection of Ravi Ashwin in the Indian squad. As per him, Ravi Ashwin feels that the limited-overs cricket is constantly evolving and Ashwin has been bowling with courage and passion. He said:

“One thing that Ashwin has really improved on is bowling with a lot of courage in white-ball cricket. We saw in the IPL in the last couple of years, he has bowled those difficult overs, he bowled against top players, power-hitters, and not being shy to put the ball in the right areas. Spinners mostly get intimidated against power-hitters, but Ashwin believed in his skill-sets,”

Further, Virat heaped praises on Ravi Ashwin and explained how his variations and control over pace can help in changing the game. He revealed that Ashwin was rewarded for reviving his white-ball skills altogether. He said:

“We felt that the way he is bowling, his variations and his control over pace is… again, a lot of experience, a guy who has played a lot of international cricket and now he is at his confident best. These guys can go in there and change the game with their spells. Hence, I think Ashwin has been rewarded for reviving his white-ball skills altogether,”
