Virat Kohli Reveals How MS Dhoni Helped Him In The Match Against Bangladesh

India registered a convincing win in the second final of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2017 to advance to the last stage of the tournament, where they will face arch-rivals Pakistan in the final match of the tournament. India gave an almost perfect performance against Bangladesh and outplayed them in all three departments of the game.

Indian captain Virat Kohli credited this former captain MS Dhoni for helping him out in making crucial changes in the middle during the match. Kedar Jadhav’s introduction was one of the most crucial points in the game as he broke the partnership between Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim and took two important wickets that put breaks on Bangladesh’s scoring rate.

When asked about this move, Kohli said that he won’t take the whole credit as he took MS Dhoni’s advice before introducing him.

“Yeah, when moves like this pay off, I won’t take the whole credit. Obviously, I asked MS, as well, and we both decided that Kedar is a good option at the moment, and he bowled really well. Credit to him,” Kohli said.

Virat also said that Kedar Jadhav does not bowl much in the nets but he knows how to trouble the batsmen with his subtle changes in pace and length.

“Kedar doesn’t bowl much in the nets, but he is a smart cricketer. He knows where the batsmen get troubled, and if you can think like a batter when you are bowling, it’s obviously a bit of an advantage to any bowler. So I think that today he executed plans perfectly,” the Indian captain said.

Kohli also spoke about his fast bowling duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah, who were brilliant with the new ball and also didn’t give any chance to Bangladeshi batters in death overs.

“Well, they were outstanding. Especially, the last two games they have been terrific initially and in the later stages, as well, their wicket-taking ability is something that the opposition is aware of.

“So they are always careful going hard against these two guys, and yeah, their length after the Sri Lanka game has been impeccable. It’s been consistent, line close to the batsmen, always there with an opportunity to get a wicket, as I mentioned.

“Even in conditions which are not offering too much, bowling such lines that we can produce wicket-taking opportunities,” said Kohli.
