Virat Kohli Shared An Emotional Message For Lives Lost In Odisha Train Accident

Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli expressed grief following the Coromandel Train crash in Odisha, which resulted in the tragic death of nearly 250 people. At least 1000 people were expected to have sustained injuries as the tragic accident took place in the Balasore district.

As many as three trains derailed and toppled over one another resulting in one of the most horrific train accidents the country has witnessed. The crash involved the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a cargo train.

Following the horrific accident, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has proclaimed a one-day state of mourning. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has offered compensation of Rs 10 lakh for those who lost their lives in the disaster. Rs 2 lakh for those who were critically injured, and Rs 50,000 for those who had minor injuries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed his grief over the horrific accident and offered a compensation of INR 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

Virat Kohli Shared An Emotional Message

Meanwhile, Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli also took to his social media and extended his condolences. He wrote:

“Saddened to hear about the tragic train accident in Odisha. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost their loved ones and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.”

Earlier in the day, Indian captain Rohit Sharma also took to his social media and expressed his grief over the horrific accident that has left the whole country in shock. He wrote:

“My heart goes out to each and everyone affected by the train accident in Odisha. May God give strength to the grieving families & wishing a swift recovery to those injured.”
