Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are looking for a new head coach and it is one of the biggest talking points of cricketing world, these days. Many media houses have reported that this decision came after Virat Kohli and some other Indian cricketers made an official complaint against present head coach Anil Kumble. It was reported that Kohli and Kumble had an argument over a selection issue. After this, according to media reports, Kohli reported to BCCI that Indian cricketers are not able to express themselves as freely as they want to in the dressing room under Anil Kumble.

Now, it is being reported that Indian captain has thrown his weight behind Ravi Shastri. Kohli and Shastri shared a great chemistry when the latter was India’s Team Director. However, it is unlikely that he will be called for the interview since he did not even apply after BCCI invited fresh applications. The deadline for sending applications came to an end on May 31.

According to a report in The Times of India, it has been said that before leaving for England to participate in ICC Champions Trophy, Kohli had a word with Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman, two of the three members of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), to consider Shastri for the coaching role.

The three-member CAC panel comprising Ganguly, Tendulkar and Laxman will interview the candidates in London.

“The interview process would start from either Thursday evening or Friday onwards. The CAC would meet the candidates individually and take the call later,” an official was quoted as saying by TOI.
