If there is one player from Indian cricket who can stake a claim to being the fittest, it is Virat Kohli. The Indian captain has taken his fitness regime to the next level over the past three years or so and is getting fitter and fitter with each game.

Many cricketers and pundits across the world believe that Virat Kohli is the fittest cricketer in the world and he has changed the attitude of Indian cricket with his hard work and dedication towards fitness.

Being in the prime of his cricketing career has helped Virat too, as he is able to marry physical perfection with the immense talent that he always possessed. Being in such fine shape has helped mould Kohli into being mentally strong and even more confident about his game, especially in the longer format.

Virat Kohli did not look like this when he first joined the Indian team as a youngster back in 2008/09. He was chubby and would not run between the wickets the same way he does now. He had an epiphany some time in 2012/13, where he felt that an international cricketer could not look this way and began his journey. And, that moment changed his life forever.

Soon, he cut on all his carbs and fatty foods to adopt a stricter, leaner diet and the results began to show. He was able to move faster while batting and this enabled him to hit big scores consistently.

His six-pack abs were on show at Pallekele during a training session and only emphasised the amount of hard work he had put on all these years. You can watch the video shared below to see how Virat Kohli works hard in the gym and follows the schedule set by the trainer.

Virat Kohli was advised by his trainer to reduce the carbs in his diet to minimum. For that, he was put on a very strict diet and the first 15 days were difficult.

Virat Kohli once revealed in an interview that there were nights when wanted to eat the bed sheet because he was so hungry. But, as the time passed by, he got used to following a strict diet and this helped him in achieve the highest level of fitness.

Also, Virat Kohli spends a lot of time on making his core stronger. He once said in interview that if the core is solid then all other body parts will automatically gain more strength and it will be much more easier to work on them.

Usually, young boys spend more time on their biceps and chest, but in Kohli’s workout regime, the utmost importance is given to the core of the body.
