There are less than two months to go for the World Cup 2023 to kick-start in India. The final, redrafted schedule was released recently by the BCCI and the ICC with some changes and tweaks to the previous schedule.

With the 2023 Cricket Festival is approaching fast the state associations are preparing to provide the fans and the players the best possible experience at their stadiums.

The 48 matches of the Cup 2023 tournament will be held across 10 different cities in India. One of those is the iconic Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, the same ground where 12 years ago MS Dhoni hit that six in the 2011 World Cup final to seal the trophy.

The Wankhede stadium is one of the five venues that the BCCI had earmarked to undergo changes and renovations ahead of the big showpiece event later this year.

It has been learned that the renovation already started at the Wankhede soon after the IPL 2023 concluded.

While Wankhede hosted the final in 2011, this time it will host the semi-final as the final is slated to be played at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

There are five matches to be played at the Wankhede stadium in World Cup 2023:

Oct 21, England vs South Africa

Oct 24, South Africa vs Bangladesh

Nov 02, India vs Sri Lanka

Nov 07, Australia vs Afghanistan

Nov 15, Semi-final 1.

If India qualify for the semi-finals, they will play their semi-final at the Wankhede against all potential teams except Pakistan. If India and Pakistan are drawn to play the semi-final, then it will be held in Kolkata as the Pakistani team isn’t allowed to travel to Maharashtra due to security reasons.
