Batting superstar Virat Kohli and former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir had an ugly on-field spat during the IPL 2023 match that took place in Lucknow on May 1 between the Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore. After the LSG vs RCB match, Gambhir and Kohli were seen getting engaged in a heated verbal battle. Several videos and pictures of the ugly on-field fight went viral on the internet.

The ugly clash between the two batting stalwarts of Indian cricket wasn’t a pleasant sight and as a result, both of them were fined 100% of their match fees as well.

When Waqar Younis Took Stand For Virat Kohli And Fought With Gautam Gambhir

Meanwhile, an old video has gone viral on social media, where Gautam Gambhir analyzed Virat Kohli’s century against Afghanistan in India’s final match of the Asia Cup 2022. In the video, Gambhir stated that Kohli was the only one to survive a three-year drought without scoring a ton.

“Three years is a very long time. It’s not for three months. And I’m not trying to be critical of him but he has earned that just because he has got loads of runs in the past. But I don’t think that any of the young batters would have survived in international cricket had they not got a hundred in three years,” Gambhir said.

However, Waqar Younis interjected and highlighted that Kohli’s reputation and stature cannot be compared to anyone else. Waqar said:

“I don’t believe that you can compare Virat with any of the players Gambhir mentioned. Kohli has a remarkable reputation and has scored a lot of runs, and he wasn’t playing poorly. That’s one of the reasons why no one can match him,”

It has to be noted that Virat Kohli, who was going through a rough phase bounced back to his form in the World Cup 2022 and played a sensational knock against Pakistan to help India seal a victory and ever since then, there have been no turning backs for him.
