Wasim Jaffer Gave A Perfect Reply To Michael Vaughan After India’s Defeat In 5th Test

As England thrashed India by 7 wickets in Edgbaston, the banter between Michael Vaughan and Wasim Jaffer resumed on Twitter with the latter giving an epic reply to the former’s dig.

England recorded their highest ever successful Test run-chase as they scaled down the target of 378 in 76.4 overs (run rate of 4.93!), drawing the five-match series 2-2 and thus retained the Pataudi Trophy.

And while the series has ended in a draw, many England supporters and the English cricket fraternity are celebrating the Edgbaston win as a series win, with India failing to build upon their lead in the series twice.

Wasim Jaffer replies to Vaughan in his own style

No sooner had Michael Vaughan tweeted than England completed the run, asking Wasim Jaffer about his well-being, but with a mistake in his tweet.

“Just checking are ok @WasimJaffer14,” the 2005 Ashes-winning captain tweeted.

Just checking are ok @WasimJaffer14 👍

Jaffer wasn’t going to take the dig and he replied back, in his style trolling the former English skipper. The former India opener said that just as Vaughan forgot to use the word “you” in the tweet, he has forgotten that the series has ended in a draw and not an English win.

“In all the excitement You forgot to write ‘you’ Check the scoreline It’s only 2-2,” Jaffer replied, leading to a flurry of comments from fans hailing his sense of humour and for his perfect reply to Vaughan.

Here, check out Jaffer’s epic reply:

Meanwhile, India’s stand-in skipper for this Test, Jasprit Bumrah, has lamented India’s batting malfunction in the second innings – when the visitors lost their last 7 wickets for 92 runs.

“I think yesterday [Monday], we fell short with the bat, and we had to come back with the ball. That is the phase where we let the opposition in, and the momentum kept shifting away from us,” Bumrah said.

“We were even going ahead in the game, but they kept on fighting, and they played better than us in the second innings and won the game.”

The white-ball series – 3 T20Is followed by 3 ODIs – will kick-off from July 7 and India will have skipper Rohit Sharma back.
