Wasim Jaffer Revealed His India’s Squad For T20I World Cup 2024
Meanwhile, Wasim Jaffer took to his social media and revealed his squad for India for the upcoming marquee tournament. Jaffer selected Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal as the opening batsmen. Jaffer included Jaiswal despite his underwhelming IPL season. He also chose Virat Kohli for the No. 3 position in the lineup.
Suryakumar Yadav occupies the No. 4 position in Jaffer’s squad. The former cricketer designated Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant as the wicketkeeper-batsmen for the World Cup team. Both Pant and Samson have displayed exceptional batting form during the ongoing T20 tournament.
Wasim Jaffer’s squad doesn’t include KL Rahul, despite his solid IPL performances for LSG. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson outperformed him, with Pant leading Delhi Capitals (DC) and Samson captaining Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing season, with impressive statistics.
Jaffer selected Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh as finishers, along with Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja as all-rounders. He omitted Axar Patel, who has contributed well for DC this season.
Jaffer opted for Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav as specialist spinners. For pace bowling, he chose Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh, acknowledging that Arshdeep and Siraj faced challenges in their IPL performances this season.
