The Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, who is regarded as one of the best batsmen of the current generation, played one fine knock in the first innings of the ongoing first day-night Test match against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. However, his knock ended in a disastrous manner as the Indian skipper was run-out as he indulged in a horrible mix-up with his deputy Ajinkya Rahane.
Before the match started, Virat won the toss and decided to bat first. However, team India got off to the worst possible start as they lost their opening batsman Prithvi Shaw on the second ball itself. Following his dismissal, Mayank Agarwal along with Cheteshwar Pujara tried to bring back the momentum. However, soon Mayank Agarwal was dismissed by Pat Cummins. Cummins broke Mayank’s 39-ball stay in the 19th over as he was dismissed on 17 runs.
Later, Virat Kohli formed a decent partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara and later with Ajinkya Rahane.
Disappointing to see the great @imVkohli get run out ! You could tell when he walked to the crease he wanted a big innings and was super determined ! Such a shame for us cricket lovers https://t.co/Fj4qPmsqOb

Team India was still mighty at 188 for 3, when Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane took the game by storm. It looked as if the two were on the way to stitch another big partnership. And just when the game was tilting on India’s favor and Kohli looked set for his first hundred this year, then came the moment when the vice-captain brings about the downfall of Virat Kohli.
Just when the likes of Starc, Cummins, Lyon and Hazlewood couldn’t get Kohli out, his own man Ajinkya Rahane got him out.
Ajinkya Rahane hit the ball straight to the mid-off fielder Jaze Hazlewood and called the skipper for a single. Virat went for a full sprint without even looking back. But just then Rahane asked Kohli to go back and Kohli had not other option but to sacrifice his own wicket at 74 runs.
Knowing his mistake, Ajinkya Rahane apologized for his mistake but Virat doesn’t utter a word and walked back to the pavilion.
