India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara was in stellar form in the Royal London One Day Cup on Friday, 12 August. Pujara has been in a form of his life for Sussex as he first scored five centuries for the team in the County Championship Division 2. Impressed with his performances, he was given the opportunity to lead the side as the captain after skipper Tom Haines’ was sidelined due to injury.
Cheteshwar Pujara Played A Stunning Knock

After getting the captaincy, Pujara has repaid the faith shown to him by the team management. In his latest knock, he smashed a stunning ton for the side against Warwickshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup on Friday in a Group A clash.
Chasing the target of 311 runs in 50 overs, Pujara walked in to bat with the side being 112/2 in the 22nd over. Pujara, who is leading the side, produced a blistering knock as he smashed 107 runs off just 79 balls for Sussex. His knock also included 22 runs coming off the 45th over, which was bowled by Liam Norwell.

However, Pujara’s efforts went in vain as he couldn’t take Sussex over the line as the side fell four runs short at Edgbaston. Earlier, coming out to bat first, Warwickshire had posted 310/6 in 50 overs, riding on a stellar knock of 114 runs by Robert Yates. Besides Pujara, Alistair Orr also played a brilliant knock of 81 runs for Sussex, however, this was not enough for the side to get over the line.
Sussex is currently standing in the second position in the tournament, with 4 points from three games. The table is currently being led by Nottinghamshire at the moment.
