Delhi Capitals opener David Warner played an amazing lap shot that sailed for a six to Punjab Kings fast bowler Kagiso Rabada in their encounter on Saturday afternoon.

The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh, is the 36th venue in the IPL. Its first match was between Delhi and Punjab on Saturday; it was a day game. PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan opted to field after winning the toss.

DC got off to a cracking start through David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. The pair blasted 39 runs in 3.2 overs before Marsh got out for 20 (12). Later on, Warner, after collecting a few more boundaries, got out for 29 (21).

David Warner slammed 3 fours and two sixes, one of which was a sensational lap shot six over fine leg. The left-hander had played a similar shot to Haris Rauf in the World Cup 2023 at the Chinnaswamy stadium.

Warner premeditated a move across the off-stump and bent low. He read the good length quickly and got his bat swing under the ball while shaping his bat to lap the ball over fine leg. With Rabada’s pace and the sweet timing on Warner’s shot, the ball went for a huge six over fine leg.
