Watch: Delhi-Born Nikhil Chaudhary Smashed Haris Rauf For A Jaw-Dropping Six On The Offside In BBL

The Delhi-born Nikhil Chaudhary is making a name for himself in the ongoing BBL 2023/24 season while playing for the Hobart Hurricanes. In the latest of his video going viral, Chaudhary slices a jaw-dropping six to fast bowler Haris Rauf, who is playing for the Melbourne Stars.

In match number 17 of the ongoing BBL season between Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Stars at the Bellerive Oval, Nikhil Chaudhary, batting in the middle-order, played a blinder of a knock for Hobart. He cracked 32 runs in 16 balls, walloping 3 fours and 2 sixes in his thunderous knock. His strike rate of 200 was the highest in his team and it propelled Hobart’s score to 155 after ordinary batting from the top-order.

One of those sixes was to Haris Rauf, one of the fastest and most experienced T20 bowlers in the world, and who has been a highly-rated pacer in the BBL over the years.

With Chaudhary shuffling on the legside to make room, as he aimed to target the short offside boundary, Rauf bowled a good bowl – full outside the off-stump, giving very little space for the batter to get under it. However, Chaudhary showed his innovativeness as he sliced the ball over gully for a majestic sixer. Rauf was stunned by this stroke from the 27-year-old Chaudhary.

The commentators couldn’t stop gushing in praise for this shot from Chaudhary; “that’s an unbelievable shot,” said one commentator.

Who is Nikhil Chaudhary? Why is he playing in the BBL?

Born in Delhi in 1996, Nikhil Chaudhary is a batting all-rounder who played for Punjab’s domestic team from 2017 to 2019. He played 12 T20s and 2 List-A matches for Punjab, before shifting to Brisbane in search of more opportunities. According to the BCCI rules, Chaudhary had to retire from all forms of cricket in India to ply his trade in other franchise leagues in the world.

Chaudhary was picked by Hobart Hurricanes for BBL 2023 and so far has done well with the bat. On his BBL debut, Chaudhary scored 40 off 31 vs Perth, and against Melbourne, he scored 32 in 16 balls.
