Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf did a really funny thing during the Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Thunder encounter in the BBL 2023/24 when he came to the crease without his pads!
In match number 12 of the BBL 2023/24, Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder met at the Lavington Sports Oval in Albury on Saturday afternoon.
Melbourne were batting first and Haris Rauf was carded at number 11. When the 20th over started, the Stars were 6 wickets down. So Haris Rauf didn’t expect his batting to come. However, three wickets fell in the first five balls of the last overs – Daniel Sams took two wickets and also affected a run-out.
This meant that number 11 Haris Rauf had to rush in the playing field quickly. However, he was neither padded up nor had he even worn his gloves. In order to avoid getting timed out, Rauf didn’t wear his pads or his helmet and rushed into the field with the bat and gloves in his hand.
Rauf had to be at the non-striker’s end. So he didn’t need the pads. But such an event should have been avoided as pads are used as a piece of protective equipment to protect the batter’s feet.
The BBL uploaded the video of this incident. While some fans had a laugh, others slammed Rauf.
Haris Rauf got trolled for not wearing pads while coming in to bat in a BBL game:
No gloves, pads or helmet on 🤣
