James Anderson finished off his long 21 years test career with his final game at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. England beat West Indies by an innings and 114 runs with Anderson ending up on the winning side in his final match in international cricket. Anderson has been part of 188 test matches and has picked up 704 wickets at an average of 26.45. He finished his career as the third highest wicket-taker in the history of test cricket. Anderson ranks at number 1 in the list of fast bowlers with the most wickets in test cricket.
He has been a legend of the game and has always stood up for England in crucial moments. Anderson has been a magician with the ball, foxing the greatest of batters with his ability to swing the ball both ways. He has always been impeccable with his line and length.
Anderson’s never die attitude and his efforts on keeping himself fit has allowed him to play for so many years. Fast bowlers generally have a short career due to the injuries that they suffer. However, it hasn’t been the same with Anderson as he has kept going till 41 years of age.

The whole Lord’s stadium stood up to pay a tribute to one of the greatest the game has ever seen. Anderson was a touch emotional while walking back to the pavilion at the end of the game. Anderson described how it was emotional when the two teams gave a guard of honour to him and it was special for him to play for two decades.
Jimmy Anderson said, “This morning was quite emotional with the two teams lined up and the reaction from the crowd was pretty special. Playing for 20 years is an incredible effort, especially for a fast bowler, so I’m just happy I’ve made it this far”.
