In a video that has gone viral on social media, some fans can be heard teasing Shreyas Iyer with “Dhanashree” chants while the batsman was present for an ad shoot or an event for the Gillette brand. The India batsman chose to ignore those chants and continued to bat in what seemed an event organized by Gillette.

Dhanashree is the wife of India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. They all are good friends and often share Instagram stories of spending time with each other. However, on social media, fans have given a weird, distasteful angle of Shreyas Iyer and Dhanashree, which is entirely untrue and disgusting.

In this video, some fans can be heard teasing Shreyas Iyer with “Dhanashree” chants, and one fan even shouted, “I Miss You Dhanashree”.

I’m going to play attacking cricket: Shreyas Iyer

Ahead of the first Test against England, Shreyas Iyer featured in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy match against Andhra in which he scored 48 runs in 48 balls, creaming 7 fours in his knock.

Iyer, who had managed only 41 runs in South Africa, said he has predetermined to play attacking cricket, something which we could see in the upcoming Test series at home against England as well.

“I’m going to play attacking irrespective of the situation,” he said. “And also when you bowl negative, when you bowl safe and defensive at the start, you want to score runs and you need to take your team through up to a certain point. So that was my mindset and that’s why stuck with. Yeah, I was happy [with my knock] irrespective of the score.”

Until yesterday, it was felt that Shreyas Iyer might miss out on the playing XI against England as KL Rahul is likely to play as a pure batter and KS Bharat would come in as the wicketkeeper. However, now with Virat Kohli withdrawing from the first two Tests, Iyer’s place in the line-up seems assured.
