The big-hitting, in-form Travis Head, who had blasted an 18-ball half-century against Mumbai Indians in his previous knock, was dismissed for 19 (14) against Gujarat Titans. The left-handed SRH opener was bowled – middle-stump pegged back – by a brilliant googly from left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad.
SRH and GT met in a day game on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the venue where Travis Head had smashed a memorable century in the World Cup 2023 final against India. SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first.
Head started off in similar fashion as he did in the night of the World Cup final. He cracked a couple of fours to pacer Azmatullah Omarzai in the first over and then attacked senior pacer Umesh Yadav for a boundary.
However, after that, Gujarat managed to keep Head quite for the rest of the powerplay. Inching to get a boundary, Travis Head went after Noor Ahmad in the immediate over after the powerplay. He even seemed to have picked the googly from Noor as he went for the slog sweep.
However, the ball turned a bit too much for Head’s liking and snuck under the bat-pad gap and rattled into the middle-stump, pegging the pole back. Noor was pumped up and expressed it in his celebration as Head walked back.
