Fast bowler Matt Henry led New Zealand’s fightback in the second Test against Australia with three wickets in 13 overs after the Kiwis were bundled out for 162.

The second Test between the Trans-Tasman rivals, which is the 100th Test for both Kane Williamson and Tim Southee, started on Friday at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, and it was a day bossed by the fast bowlers.

First, Josh Hazlewood took a five-wicket haul, Mitchell Starc a three-wicket haul, and one wicket each for Pat Cummins and Cameron Green as the hosts were bowled out for 162.

With a home series on the line, New Zealand came roaring with the ball, charged up by Matt Henry’s terrific spell of 13-4-39-3 in which he took the wickets of Usman Khawaja, Cameron Green, and Travis Head. Debutant Ben Sears dismissed Steve Smith. By stumps on day 1, Australia are 124/4, but trailing by only 38 more runs.

Watch: Fiery celebration from Matt Henry after castling Cameron Green

A passionate and expressive fast bowler, Matt Henry let out a huge roar after he bowled Cameron Green. It was an inswinger from Henry that pitched on length and jagged back in a bit. Green played for the line but since the ball had seamed in a little, it beat his inside edge, hit him on the pad and crashed into the stumps. Green could only hold his post, realising that he had been castled, while Matt Henry celebrated with full force of his core.
