Watch: Pat Cummins Gives An Epic One-Line Reply To Hafeez's "Pakistan Played Better Cricket" Remark

The Australia captain Pat Cummins has grown into the habit of giving some epic responses in press conferences. Whether it was the “moral” Ashes claims from England, or the “on paper” labels from Indians, and now the latest of his reply comes to the Pakistan “played better cricket” than Australia declaration from Mohammad Hafeez.

Despite Pakistan going down by 79 runs in the MCG Test, which was a much closer contest than the first Test in Perth, Mohammad Hafeez, the Pakistan team director, said that Pakistan were the better team in this game.

The match hung in balance when Pakistan were needed 98 runs to win with 5 wickets in hand. However, Mohammad Rziwan’s wicket triggered a collapse and they lost 5 wickets for only 18 runs. Australia take a 2-0 lead in the 3-Test series.

In the press conference, Hafeez said: “We played better cricket as a team. I’m proud of that. The way the team had the courage to attack this game in the best possible way. If I sum up the game, the Pakistan team played better than the other team in general. Our batting intent was better, and while bowling, we were hitting the right areas. Yes, we made some mistakes that cost us the game but as a team I believe that there were a lot of positives, enough to win the game but unfortunately at the end we didn’t win the game.”

“The team that wins at the end”: Pat Cummins replies to Hafeez

The Australian captain bagged the Man of the Match award for taking five-wicket hauls in both innings. In the press conference, when a journalist told Cummins about Hafeez’s comment that Pakistan were the better team in his opinion, the Aussie skipper gave an epic reply, leaving the journalists in splits.

Replying to Hafeez, Pat Cummins said:  “Ahh, cool. It doesn’t really matter, does it? It’s the team that wins at the end.”

Hafeez also ranted about the umpire’s call in this game – four ‘umpire’s call’ went Australia’s way – and Rizwan’s controversial decision from the third umpire.
