The news of Rishabh Pant set to make his much-awaited comeback in the upcoming IPL season has got the fans buzzing in excitement.

The left-hander suffered a near-fatal car crash in December 2022. He thankfully survived the accident and over the past six months, the 26-year-old has progressed swiftly. This progress has been so quick that he is confirmed to feature in the IPL 2024 and lead the Delhi Capitals. He has received clearance from the NCA authorities. He will, however, not take the gloves due to the knee injuries suffered in the accident.

Rishabh Pant recently played in a practice game at NCA’s ground in Alur, near Bangalore. Videos and pictures of him batting in the practice match have got the fans talking.

In a video that has gone viral, the left-hander can be seen smoking the ball after coming down the track like he used to when he was fit. His power and timing seems to have remained the same despite the accident. The bat swing has retained its beauty and there is his famous flamboyance in his stroke. This video is a huge indication of his returning to match fitness.

“First time in my life I had that feeling of letting it go. I felt my time in this world was over,” Pant told Star Sports. “It was the first time I had such a feeling in life. At the time of the accident, I was aware of the wounds, but I was lucky as it could have been even more serious.”

The IPL 2024 is likely to start on March 22 and conclude by May 25 to give the players a week’s time ahead of the T20 World Cup.
