India captain Rohit Sharma blasted a 151 KPH bumper from Mark Wood for a sizzling sixer on the legside on day 1 in the Dharamsala Test.

The fifth and last Test of the series got underway on Thursday at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, which is one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world given its stunning backdrop of the mountains. Rohit Sharma hit a towering six to the fiery Mark Wood that sent everyone swooning.

Courtesy of a five-wicket haul from Kuldeep Yadav and R Ashwin’s four-for, India bundled England for only 218 on what is a good batting surface. The good nature of the pitch showed when India were batting as Yashasvi Jaiswal hit another half-century, but the young left-hander got out after scoring 57 runs in 58 balls.

At the other end, Rohit Sharma was cautious initially, but duly punished some bad balls, and latched onto a short ball from Mark Wood that was clocked at 151.2 KPH!

Hailed as the best pull shot player of his generation, Rohit assessed the short length quickly, got into the position for a pull, and promptly played his famous pull/hook shot. He made a good connection, and swiveled his body, and sent the ball soaring over the fine leg boundary for a maximum as the crowd stood up on their feet to celebrate a stunning shot from the Indian skipper.

Jaiswal was dismissed by off-spinner Shoaib Bashir for 57 runs in 58 balls. Rohit is unbeaten on 52 runs which he scored with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes. At the other end, number 3 Shubman Gill has also smoked a couple of sixes, and he is unbeaten on 26 runs.

India ended day 1 at the score of 135/1, trailing now by only 83 more runs. Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav and R Ashwin shared 9 wickets to bamboozle England for 218.
