Watch: Shardul Thakur’s Fiery Celebration After Century In Ranji Semi-Final

Mumbai’s Shardul Thakur blasted a terrific century in the Ranji Trophy 2024 semi-final against Tamil Nadu and celebrated his three-figure milestone with a fiery celebration. The match is happening at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai.

Shardul Thakur had taken two wickets while bowing on day 1, those of Sai Sudharsan and Vijay Shankar. But his bigger contribution in the semi-final came with the bat on day 2, that too when his side, Mumbai, was in trouble.

Tamil Nadu were bowled out for 146 in the first innings, but Mumbai, too, were in trouble, tottering at 106/7. Then Shardul Thakur joined hands with Tanush Kotian and both blazed their ways, ripping into the Tamil Nadu bowling attack with a spate of boundaries, with the senior India cricketer also walloping a few sixes.

In the Ranji Trophy 2024 semi-final, Thakur scored 109 runs in 104 balls, creaming 13 fours and 4 sixes in his sensational knock. He brought up his century with a delightful inside-out shot that sailed over long-off for a brilliant sixer.

The CSK cricketer celebrated his three-figure landmark animatedly. In his celebration of the century, Thakur fist-pumped in the air passionately, expressing his elation at getting to the landmark in an important game for his side.

Thakur, toward the end of the day’s play, eventually got out to Kuldeep Sen, the lanky fast bowler, but by then he and Kotian had put Mumbai to close to 300 runs and put them way ahead in the game on what is a spicy pitch. Kotian scored 74 unbeaten runs in 109 balls with the help of 10 fours.

At the end of the day, Shardul Thakur was asked about returning to India’s playing XI. He was dropped from the XI after the Centurion Test, and excluded from the Cape Town Test as India went in with an extra proper seamer in Mukesh Kumar.

Thakur replied, “Comeback to the Indian team is a far thing right now.”
