WATCH: Shubman Gill Gave An Epic Reaction After Completing His Century vs Zimbabwe

Shubman Gill finally completed the long wait for his maiden international century on Monday in Harare. 22-year-old Gill, who had made his ODI debut in 2019 and his Test debut in 2020, broke the wait in the third ODI vs Zimbabwe. And his priceless reaction and epic celebration has gone viral.

Gill’s epic celebration after reaching his century

On the first ball of the 44th over of India’s innings, Shubman Gill laced into a Victor Nyauchi delivery and punched it to deep cover for a single and a huge cheer went out from the Indian dressing room as the youngster brought up his maiden century for India.

Gill, relieved after missing the three-figure mark in the last month, was shiningly beaming. Gill had a huge smile on his face as he raised his bat and helmet toward the Indian dressing room and soaked in all the applause.

After that, he bowed down for his celebration and once again looked satisfied, grinning from ear to ear.

Shubman Gill relieved after his maiden international century

Along with happiness, there was a big relief on Gill’s face and in his body language. For he had missed a century in his recent knocks: Gill had got scores of 64, 43 and 98* in the West Indies (he had then missed his century by only 2 runs due to rain), and 82* in Zimbabwe in the first ODI. Today, though, Gill made sure that nothing could stop him from going past the three-figure mark.

Shubman Gill had come in to bat at number 3 after Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul had got India off to a slow start with their 63-run opening stand from 91 balls. He soon saw Dhawan also get out and then began to forge a partnership with Ishan Kishan.

The two youngsters didn’t held back and played their shots with freedom in their big stand of 140 runs which was built in 127 balls. Kishan’s wicket, on 50, was followed by that of Deepak Hooda.

Sikandar Raza almost won the match for Zimbabwe

Gill, on the other end, was pristine in his timing though, and he sent the bad balls to the boundary while on others rotated the strike regularly to increase the run rate. He was eventually dismissed for 130 runs off 97 balls, his knock including 15 sweetly-timed fours and one disdainfully hit six.

This ton from Gill, along with 50 from Ishan Kishan, carried India to 289 after a slow, drudged start from KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan – their partnership was of 63 runs in 91 balls. India escaped by only 9 runs after Sikandar Raza’s 115 from 95 balls brought the hosts close to India’s total.
