Virat Kohli was filled with amazement and excitement as Shivam Dube smashed the Afghanistan bowlers all around the Holkar cricket stadium in Indore on Sunday night.
The left-hander’s onslaught of 63 unbeaten runs in 32 balls meant India defeated Afghanistan by 6 wickets in the run-chase of 173 runs with 26 balls to spare, and clinched the with a 2-0 lead and one game to play.
Dube clobbered four sixes in his innings and formed a match-winning partnership of 92 runs in 42 balls with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. Three of his sixes came in one over from veteran Afghanistan off-spinner and captain, Mohammad Nabi. Dube took down Nabi in the 10th over for a hat-trick of sixes, smashing him between long-on and mid-wicket.
Virat Kohli was up on his feet as Dube walloped the third six to Nabi. Before that, Virat Kohli was seen laughing his heart out at one of the sixes from the left-hander to the off-spinner. These were some priceless reactions from the ‘KING’ and the fans loved Kohli’s reactions as much as Kohli lived Dube’s hitting.

In the chase of 173 runs, Virat Kohli got going from the onset of his innings. Buying into the aggressive mantra that the management has been preaching about, Kohli smashed 5 fours in his brief knock of 16 balls, scoring 29 runs.
He, however, got out to pacer Naveen-ul-Haq, but Jaiswal and Dube got the job done as India eventually cantered to their target of 173 with 4.2 overs left.
Kohli was returning to play a T20I game after more than a year; he had missed the first T20I due to personal reasons.
Captain Rohit Sharma was pleased with the attacking approach from his batters.
“We are very clear with what we wanted to do and what we wanted to achieve as well,” Rohit said. “[There is a] very clear message to everyone in the team as well and when you see performances like that you can feel proud of it as well. It’s one thing to talk about it and it’s another thing to go out there and actually do it.
The third T20I will be Virat Kohli’s adopted home ground, the Chinnaswamy stadium, on Wednesday.
