The cricketing world is anxiously waiting for the 2023 ODI World Cup to begin, however, it looks like Temba Bavuma is an exception. The right-handed batsman, who is all set to lead South Africa in the highly-anticipated World Cup, fell asleep during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Captains Day on Wednesday (October 4).
Yes, you read that right. Ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023 opening match, the BCCI and ICC organized a Captains’ Day event in Ahmedabad. Captains of all the 10 participating teams were present at the event and fielded questions from the reporters.
Temba Bavuma Caught Sleeping During Captains’ Meet
However, a funny moment stole the show during the press conference as South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, seemingly fell asleep on the stage itself. While other captains sat in pairs on the couch, Temba Bavuma was sitting alone on a chair and he made sure to make the most of it.
It has to be noted that, Bavuma had missed the warm-up matches because of personal reasons and flown to India from South Africa recently. And while the South Africa team was in Delhi preparing for the first match, their captain had to fly directly to Ahmedabad for the event.
Bavuma stole all the attention of the fans on the internet as the netizens just couldn’t keep themselves from having fun at his expense.
Check out some of the funniest reactions:
During the event, Temba also spoke about South African players’ experience of playing in India. He said:
“It is something relevant to all the teams lot of the teams have guys who play in India and have done well in India I wouldn’t really say it is an advantage for us all we can really do us is guys who have that experience and knowledge they can share it amongst teams or use it in terms of strength and plans I wouldn’t say it is an advantage unique to us as a team,” said Temba Bavuma.
