IPL 2023

IPL 2023 Final : Chennai Super Kings will be taking on the defending champions Gujarat Titans in the final showdown of the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. With this, the ongoing season has come full circle as it will be a repeat of the season opener between CSK and GT.

What if IPL 2023 Final Between CSK And GT Is Washed Out?

Chennai Super Kings roared back in style in the ongoing season after finishing 9th in the 10-team tournament last season. CSK overcame several injuries and team balance concerns to make it to the final.

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans, who won the IPL title in their first attempt the previous season, have only gotten better this season with four of their players leading the run-scoring and wicket-taking charts.

CSK vs GT

Since the final clash is going to take place in Ahmedabad, the toss might become irrelevant as in the last 26 games at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the IPL, teams who batted first or bowled first have won 13 games each. However, the playoff games come with a different pressure.

On Friday, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma chose to bowl first with the overcast weather condition, however, Gill’s century shattered the hopes of many.

Meanwhile, just like the Qualifier 2, thunderstorms are predicted on Sunday in Ahmedabad. Yes, you read that right. According to the weather forecast, there’s a 61 percent chance of rain in the city on Sunday evening and the rain might make an appearance or two. While the game can be delayed a bit, there’s also a reserve day for the final.

Though the BCCI will make efforts to get the match done and dusted on Sunday only, but if rain plays spoilsport and doesn’t allow all the 40 overs to be bowled, then the match will resume from where it was interrupted on the reserve day on Monday, 29th May, with an extra 120 minutes added to the usual timings.

If rain doesn’t allow any game or even a 5-over match is also not possible, the final will start afresh from the toss on Monday. And if the rain continues to lash on the reserve day as well, the same procedure of shortered game will be followed on May 30 and a super over will decide the winner. And if rain doesn’t allow that to happen, then GT will be announced winners as the finished above CSK on the table.
