Indian veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has been in England for close to two months now as he is a part of the broadcast team there. He has been receiving love from all corners for his new stint as a commentator. He has done an excellent job with the mic and his deep analysis of the game. Though fans are loving every bit of his stint as a commentator, but that doesn’t mean that he has no plans as far as his cricketing future is concerned.

Earlier, on many occasions, DK has revealed his plans of making a comeback for the Indian side in the T20 format. However, when it comes to the longest format of the game, the veteran has some other plans.

“Why Didn’t You Play For Tamil Nadu?” Dinesh Karthik Gave A Heart-Winning Reply

Recently, in interaction with Aakash Chopra, Karthik revealed why he hasn’t been playing First-Class cricket lately and the reason has left everyone in awe of the person he is. For the unversed, Dinesh Karthik,  who made his Test debut way back in November 2004, hasn’t played a red-ball game for Tamil Nadu since February 2020.

Talking about the same, DK asserted that had he continued playing the first-class cricket for Tamil Nadu, he would have blocked young wicket-keeper N Jagadeesan’s place. Further, he also accepted that his days as a Test cricketer are now over. He said:

“The reason I don’t play red-ball cricket for Tamil Nadu is that it will block the chances of Jagadeesan and also I don’t have a future in red-ball cricket as well,”

Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik, who is currently busy with his stint as a commentator, will return to action on-field during the second half of the IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders. IPL 2021 was suspended mid-way because of the outbreak of the Coronavirus within the bio-bubble.
