BCCI Revealed Why Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli Were Rested From India’s White Ball Series vs SA
Following the conclusion of the World Cup 2024, there was significant anticipation regarding the composition of the white-ball squads, as it would provide insights into the future white-ball strategies of the Indian cricket team. While there were speculations that Rohit Sharma would captain the T20Is against South Africa, the BCCI’s press release has revealed a different message.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are not absent from the T20Is and ODIs due to any injury. Instead, the duo informed the BCCI voluntarily that they wished to take a break from the white-ball segment of the South Africa Tour, according to a BCCI release.
“Rohit Sharma and Mr Virat Kohli had requested the Board for a break from the white-ball leg of the tour. Mohd. Shami is currently undergoing medical treatment and his availability is subject to fitness. Mr Abhimanyu Easwaran’s availability is subject to fitness,” The BCCI said in a release.
However, the fans are unhappy with the BCCI for resting Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be India’s other chance to get their hands on the prestigious trophy.
Notably, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma haven’t played a single T20I match after T20 World Cup 2022.
