WI vs IND 2023: Here’s Why Virat Kohli Didn’t Travel To West Indies With Team India

WI vs IND 2023: The Indian cricket team’s journey to the West Indies has commenced with an interesting twist. The all-format tour, beginning July 12, saw the team members departing from various locations. According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), arranging tickets on one flight for the entire team was challenging. As a result, the players are travelling to the Caribbean Island through different routes, including America, London, and the Netherlands.

India’s team leaders, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, are currently on vacation with their families. Both will travel from their respective holiday destinations, Paris and London, to the Caribbean Island. As per the Indian Express, their exact arrival dates are yet to be determined, but they are expected to join the team next week.

This unusual travel scenario is sure to make for an interesting start to the tour. However, it is unlikely to dampen the team’s spirits. India is set to kick off their World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for 2023-25 with a match against the West Indies. The last time they faced off was in the WTC final against Australia.

The two-match Test series is preceded by a practice game. This warm-up will provide a crucial opportunity for the team to acclimatise and prepare for the challenges ahead. Out of 98 meetings with the West Indies, India has emerged victorious 22 times, while the Windies have won 30 matches.

The last time these teams clashed in a Test series was in 2019, with India securing a 2-0 whitewash. The current Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, appears to have the upper hand. Nevertheless, the absence of experienced pace bowlers Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah could prove challenging.

In light of this, the responsibility of spearheading the pace attack falls on Siraj. Backing him up will be Shardul Thakur, Unadkat, Navdeep Saini, and Mukesh Kumar. Their performance will be crucial in determining the outcome of this tour.

In conclusion, the Indian cricket team’s journey to the Caribbean Island marks the start of an exciting tour. The unique travel circumstances add an intriguing twist to this adventure. Yet, the focus remains firmly on the forthcoming cricket action.

With experienced leaders, talented players, and a challenging opponent, the stage is set for some exciting cricket. Fans will be eager to see how Team India fares in this tour, starting from their practice game to the World Test Championship. This tour is poised to offer a cricketing spectacle that promises high stakes, thrilling plays, and memorable moments.
